HERE THEY COME!
NO MORE …
- Offices in the bathrooms.
- Sharing one unventilated, converted-bedroom video studio with several Deaf translation teams.
- Sharing one cramped and inadequate converted-bedroom editing room.
- Sharing overcrowded and restricted office space.
- Need for Kenya staff to travel on public translation to/from work for hours daily.
PRAYER DREAM TO A VISION
From a prayer dream to a vision of the future, GOD HAS PROVIDED a place designed and built specifically for SIGN LANGUAGE TRANSLATION WORK. The new site will have 4 video studios plus 10 editing and back translation stations. In the future, DOOR will be able to facilitate up to 10 Deaf translation teams from different countries at the same time.
MOVE IN
In the coming weeks, these new facilities will be filled with translation teams of Deaf people from India and Kenya. Working alongside these teams will be Deaf and hearing translation consultants, consultants-in-training, facilitators and back translators. All living and working together at the DEAF BIBLE TRANSLATION & TRAINING CENTER.
Another FIRST in DOOR’s HIStory!
Is everything finished and ready for “the” move-in? NO! The lease on the present DOOR-Africa facilities runs out on October 15, therefore, ready or not, here they come starting September 24, 2010 through October 15, 2010.
Pray for Mike Buus (President) and his wife (Linda) as they travel to Kenya for a couple weeks to assist with the move. Traveling with them are two men from the US who will be setting up and networking all the computers. So many things to pray for … just pray for EVERYTHING to go smoothly and as planned.
2011 PLANS
In January, 2011 five additional Deaf translation teams from Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda and Tanzania (BEGUT) will return to finish up the final draft of the “Know God How” (32 Bible stories).
February 26 & 27, 2011
DOOR property and facilities in Kenya
(DEAF BIBLE TRANSLATION & TRAINING CENTER)
will be dedicated to God.
SAVE-THE-DATE!
You are welcome to come join us!
FIBER OPTIC LINE
The trench is being dug (see pictures). It needs to be dug (by hand!) from the DOOR property to the building with the pink roof in the distance, which is the Africa Nazarene University, then cable laid and buried. Will it be done in time? They are promising internet by Monday, September 27, but it is Kenya. Only God knows! Keep praying!
