Kenyan Vote

Every Kenyan is focusing on the 4th of August (Wednesday) to see if people vote to accept a new constitution or not.  Everyone is very nervous that violence may erupt like it did after the elections in 2008.

PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYING for calmness in Kenya, no matter the outcome.

A HISTORICAL event took place recently in Kenya involving our DOOR staff.

Kenyan SongMembers of the Kenya Deaf Association were invited to participate in the launch of the proposed draft constitution. A Deaf group consisting of DOOR staff members and Deaf who had been trained by DOOR conducted - in sign language - a song, drama and prayer.

A first in Kenyan history! (Yes, that is our Flo up front!)

Members of parliament and politicians sat quietly giving their full attention to what the Deaf were signing and saying.

Deaf in the audience were following everything closely.

This was a HUGE opportunity to influence not only the Deaf Kenyan community, but the entire Kenyan community.

Side note: If this constitution is passed The Deaf in Kenya will finally be allowed to get a drivers license!
