What are you ANTICIPATING in 2009? Maybe a wedding? A special vacation? Anniversary? Birth of a child? Graduation?
Lord willing, D.O.O.R. International is ANTICIPATING two major milestones at the end of this year.
-
Completing the Evangelism Series (32 Bible passages) in Kenya Sign Language.
-
Completing the Evangelism Series (32 Bible passages) in Kerala (India) Sign Language.
By completed, we mean ... translation consultant approved (a long, long complicated process involving "crafting" the story into Sign Language, then "back translated" so a translation consultant can check it, then "community tested" ... all completed as many as 3 times before being approved, which in the case of a Sign Language translations, means re-videotaping and editing each time).
Initial plans are already being made for a HUGE CELEBRATION
- in India on December 5, 2009 and
- in Kenya January 15 or 16, 2010.
THIS IS A FIRST!! The first time Deaf people in Kenya and India will have part of the Bible available to them in their "heart" language, Sign Language. If you would like to be a part of this historical event, let us know. Start praying now!! We are anticipating spiritual attacks!
That ANTICIPATION is keeping us going through some tough times. This past month (January, 2009), due to a decline in funds, DOOR had to make the tough decision to close DOOR-Americas, as well as our DOOR-Raleigh office.
The donations for the DOOR-Americas programs have not been adequate for the past two years to cover the costs. As a result, the Americas accounts were always in deficit. We had been making up these deficits from undesignated gifts in the General Fund. Unfortunately, in the last six months, giving dropped way off and we are no longer able to sustain the ministry of Allan, Veronica, Ingrid and Maleidy.
It has been a real joy working with this team over the past years. They started their relationship with DOOR as students, and were among the brightest and best! We will miss Allan, Veronica, Ingrid and Maleidy!
We know they will faithfully serve the Lord in whatever they do. We look forward to hearing where and how He will lead and guide them.
DOOR is also grateful to Debbie, our Office Manager at the DOOR-Raleigh office. We wish her the very best as she discovers what new things God has in store for her! Debbie started working for DOOR many years ago as a volunteer, and then moved into the office, working on receipting, prayer letters, communications and record keeping. She has worked hard to help each missionary and field team produce their prayer letters and news letters on time, and looking good! We will miss her. We sincerely appreciate her dedication and love for DOOR, and trust God will provide her with another job that will not only take care of her financial needs, but also give her satisfaction.
Because the DOOR-Raleigh office is closed, it means DOOR has a new mailing address.
