Training Programs
In the past, DOOR had one-year residential Deaf Christian Leadership Training programs in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and India, run and led by godly Deaf leaders and teachers.
Presently, DOOR offers training programs in Africa and India for the Deaf-Hand Translation teams on site. It is called "scripture-in-use" training.
In India, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, DOOR staff and graduates now offer local, incarnational, field-based training. Students learn the Bible through Chronological Bible Storying, and how to plant strong, indigenous, reproducing Deaf believers' fellowships.
D.O.O.R. International has sent teams of two or more well-trained Deaf leaders to develop Deaf Christian community leaders by offering them training in how to study the Bible, share their testimony, form Deaf believers' fellowships, train leaders, and manage projects and teams.
As more and more Deaf people become believers, learn God's Word, share with others and actively use their spiritual gifts, we prayerfully expect that these Deaf believers will radically change the Deaf community by using biblical principles and values to:
- Reach their community and others for Christ.
- Train individuals to make wise decisions in their personal lives.
- Create a Deaf Believers' community that "cares and shares" with the Deaf believers.
- Transform the Deaf community by demonstrating love for one another as well as advocating for Deaf access to education, medical, governmental, religious and other social services.
Following the example of the Apostle Paul, these teams will stay in a given city until they have established reproducing believers' fellowships and trained and equipped Deaf leaders. Then they will move on to new cities to continue the process.
