Samuel: Video Studio Coordinator, Trainer, & Counselor for Male Students
Lucy: Wife (Hearing)

Simon was born Deaf. As a result of a lack of communication with his family and others around him and years of misunderstandings, he became a very angry child and young man. Simon was often in fights. He remained angry until someone told him that he could communicate with Jesus and that Jesus loved him. After accepting Jesus as his Savior, the anger slowly left him. He is now a peaceful, gentle man who loves helping other Deaf to find peace.

Simon was in the first DOOR-Africa DCLTC (Deaf Christian Leadership Training Center) class from January of 1999 to December of 2000.  After graduation, Simon was a leader of a Deaf church in Nairobi. He also continued to work in his business as a second-hand clothing and shoe merchant.

In 2002, Simon decided to plant a Deaf Believers' Fellowship in his hometown of Banana, Kenya.  In April of 2003 Simon joined the teaching staff of DOOR-Africa. God has gifted him in teaching and mentoring, and he uses these gifts daily as he works with the Deaf translators at the DOOR-Africa center. Presently, Simon is also overseeing the editing, as well as coordinating the video studio work done by the Deaf translation teams at DOOR-Africa.

Simon is a mature Christian who is well respected in the Deaf community. He has been a church mentor for some Deaf churches in Kenya, including Nyahururu Deaf Church and Muranga Deaf Church. Simon and his wife, Lucy, along with their two children, are an excellent model of a Christian family for the Deaf community.
