Kennedy was born in 1977 in Ndhiwa, in Homa Bay district, near Kisumu (situated in the Western part of Kenya, around Lake Victoria).  He is the second child in his family and has seven sisters.

He attended primary school at Nyagweso School for the Deaf.   His favorite subject in school was mathematics.  For recreation, he enjoys football.

In 1992 Kennedy became a Christian, while attending a Deaf camp during his final year at Karen Technical Institute for the Deaf. This is when he learned about God and Jesus.

Kennedy attended the DOOR-Africa DCLTC (Deaf Christian Leadership Training Center) in 2005.  After graduation he went back to Kisumu, his home town, to serve the Deaf community by sharing God's stories with the Deaf.

He was delighted and grateful to God for the opportunity to join the DOOR-Africa staff in 2007, working with the multinational Deaf Bible translation program.

When Kennedy moved to Nairobi, he realized there were many Deaf people in his neighborhood. He encouraged them to meet in his home. This gave him an opportunity to share his personal testimony and sign a Bible story. The more he did this, the more the Deaf attending became committed to the meetings and it has become a daily evening routine. Deaf are now learning God's Word. On Saturdays they have a prayer devotional meeting and on Sundays they gather for a believers' fellowship.  Kennedy is also teaching his wife the Bible stories he learned at DOOR-Africa.
