Ingrid Picado Arias

Deaf Costa RicanIngrid Picado Arias
DOOR-Americas, Lima, Peru
Believers’ Fellowship Planting Trainer

Ingrid, born and raised in Costa Rica, is the only Deaf person in her family.  She completed high school, and had some university education as well.  She was part of a Deaf theater group, taught LESCO (Costa Rican Sign Language) to hearing people, plus worked in various positions educating and empowering Deaf children and adults.

Since her childhood, Ingrid has known about Christ, but she has only been a Christian since she received Him as her Savior and was baptized in 1996.  She ministered and served as an assistant in the Deaf Bible study with her church.

She graduated from the DOOR-Americas DCLTC (Deaf Christian Leadership Training Center) in 2001.  She said that Chronological Bible Storying was the key to unlock God's Word for her and other Deaf people.  Ingrid became a trainer at the DOOR-Americas DCLTC located in San Jose, Costa Rica.  From 2001 to 2006, she taught God's Word to scores of Deaf people from many Latin American countries in this setting.  She served as a mentor to the female students.  She traveled to a number of countries to recruit students and to follow-up with graduates.

Ingrid's smile is contagious, and so is her love for the Lord.  She is currently serving in Lima, Peru, reaching, discipling, and training Deaf Peruvians in God's Word and in establishing Deaf believers' fellowships.
