FAQs

1. My church wants to start a Deaf ministry/church. What should we do?

Pray for God to give you guidance, wisdom, and strength.  Start a Deaf Bible study. Invite your Deaf friends. Pray together. Pray for God to lead you. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you understanding. Start at the beginning of the Bible and learn the stories together. Read and sign a story from the Bible. Discuss together what it means. Pray more, that you will remember what you have learned. Pray for each other's needs.  Pray and look for each person's spiritual gifts.  Look for opportunities for each person to use their spiritual gifts to serve the group.

It is difficult to explain many details about Deaf church planting on a web site, but these are a few suggestions to help you start.

2. I am a Deaf Christian. OR I have a Deaf friend/relative who is a Christian. What do you have for Deaf Christians?

DOOR has signed some parts of the Bible on DVD.  We want to be sure that we signed it right and did not change the meaning.  Wycliffe International (a Bible translation organization) is checking DOOR's Chronological Bible Storying curriculum on DVD to be sure DOOR translated parts of the Bible right and clearly.  This takes a long time, and then if we need to make any changes, we need to film and edit the Bible story again.  So these DVDs are not ready yet.  We pray that these DVDs will be available in various Sign Languages in the future.   DOOR is also working on making other Bible teaching materials (on DVD) for Deaf believers.  Keep checking our website for news on our progress.

For Deaf Christian materials available through other ministries, check these links. (If you are looking for DOOR videos from the past, they are now available through Deaf Missions.)

3. I am a Deaf Christian. I have a Deaf friend or relative who is NOT a Christian. What do you have that I could offer them?

If you are a Christian, the best thing you can offer them is Jesus! You can meet them and share Jesus with them in Sign Language.

DOOR has made an evangelistic DVD for Deaf adults called "God Connect How?" (Deaf title) / "How Can We Have A Relationship With God?" (hearing title).  For more details and a printable order form, click here.

DOOR worked with Book of Hope International to make a wonderful evangelistic DVD for Deaf children.  It has exciting, professional animation of Bible stories, and live-action scenes starring a DOOR Deaf missionary family, the Sorensons (currently serving in the U.S.).  For more details and order form, click here.

For Deaf Christian materials available through other ministries, check these links. (If you are looking for videos produced by DOOR in the past, they are now available through Deaf Missions.)
