DOOR used to have Deaf Christian Leadership Training Centers. They were in Kenya (Africa), Costa Rica (Americas), the Philippines (Asia), Hungary (Europe), and India. Now, DOOR changed how we teach Deaf people. We don't have training centers in Costa Rica, the Philippines, Hungary, or India any more, but we are still teaching the Bible to Deaf people.
DOOR still has a training center in Kenya. Now the training center in Kenya focuses on training Deaf Africans to translate parts of the Bible into their sign languages.
In India, and in some countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, DOOR staff and graduates teach Deaf people in the cities where the Deaf people live. These Deaf people learn the Bible through Chronological Bible Storying. They learn how to start strong, healthy Deaf believers' fellowships that will start other believer's fellowships. They can learn many other things, too, like how to study the Bible, how to share their testimony, how to train leaders, and how to manage projects and teams.
We are praying that God will begin to change the Deaf world through us -- Deaf Christians. We believe that God's Word is powerful. We believe that God uses His people to bring light to a dark world. We pray that He will use us to:
- Reach our Deaf community and others for Christ.
- Train Deaf people to make wise decisions in their personal lives.
- Love and share with other Deaf Christians in Deaf believers' fellowships.
- Change the Deaf community by showing our love for each other and helping to improve Deaf education, medical, government, religious and other social services.
Our teams follow Paul's missionary example in the Bible. A DOOR team will stay in one city until they have trained local Deaf Christian leaders and started Deaf believers' fellowships that are starting other fellowships. Then the DOOR team will move to another city and start again.
